My students are taking finals in this the next 2 days (well, finals are 4 days but the other forecasts aren’t as bad.) I think I found an air conditioned room for my 4th period tomorrow, but I haven’t found anything for my classes on Thursday- the day my weather widget actually hit triple digits for (plus “oppressive humidity” according to the weatherman).
My classroom has no air and usually feels around ten degrees hotter than the outdoors. Keep your fingers crossed for my kiddos.

The forecast in my area is also oppressive heat. I still have 2 weeks to go before finals. I may prove myself a witch when I finally melt into the worn out linoleum.

Oh good luck to you! My school’s AC is being replaced this summer, and we won’t have AC until mid-July. I have the pleasure of working through the end of June, so I feel your pain!

Dear God, and teachers at my school complain about it being too cold! Is that a northern thing? (I teach in Florida so I wouldn’t know.)

Does your corp not recognize “heat days”? Before A/C was put in the buildings, I remember as a kid going home early because it would get near 100, with heat index higher. The average age of an elementary school here is 85 years.

About
Who I am: A third year high school history teacher at an urban(ish) high school in New Jersey.
What I blog about: Stuff related to education I like, and stuff I hope can help other teachers out. Technology, deals on supplies, helpful books. My focus lately is on educational technology & related resources. Occasionally, I also post things related to education reform. Because I post articles that I feel will be of interest to teachers with varying views, the political-related posts made here do not necessarily reflect my beliefs or opinions, nor do they reflect the beliefs of my employer.
What I like learning & reading about: Other teacher's opinions about and experiences with teaching & education. How I can enrich my classroom and reach out to my students. If you write about this stuff, let me know, because I probably want to read it.
What you should submit: Anything that could help a teacher.
